We enjoyed a lovely meal at Vasco's at the Hilton Beach Club to celebrate Julian's 60th birthday. Julian and John were at university together. The duck just wandered in to join the party!

Begun in Aug 09 when Jenny Perkins left Manchester to join her husband John in Abu Dhabi. John took up the post of Provost at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology in June.The blog follows the triumphs and challenges of creating a new life in a foreign city, setting up home, learning to drive on the wrong side of the road, making friends and finding a job.
